“Well, what a wonderful evening! It was a lovely, atmospheric setting… just perfect for the mixture of music and poetry. Thank you both for inviting me… and to Andrew for the music and the venue. I really loved the poetry readings with music backing as it worked so well. A sort of updated Sitwell/ Walton idea, although your poetry and Andrew’s music was much better!
Best of all, I loved the parallel readings where the words intertwined. I don’t know how much you had practised reading them together, but the balance of your voices was just right; I found I could listen to one and then the other sometimes a word at a time and sometimes in phrases, picking out the words I wanted to concentrate on but not losing the others. If one of you had been slightly louder/softer then I think this wouldn’t have been so possible.
Altogether, a fabulous experience, please invite me again if you do any more!”
